Most Obedient
At the heart of Mariology shines the Blessed Virgin Mary's supremely obedient faith actualized through submission to God's redemptive will despite bewildering demands. Unlike Eden's tragic fall, when the Annunciation angel stunned humble Mary by declaring she would miraculously conceive humanity's long-awaited Messiah, her response flashed obedience through awe - "Behold the handmaid of the Lord, be it done unto me..." In that fiat flashed history's reversal of the First Eve's failure. The Second Eve's obedient faith blessed the Incarnation to flower redemptively.
Mary's obedience was particularly evident during Jesus' ministry. She witnessed His miracles, absorbed His teachings, and supported Him in His mission. At the foot of the cross, Mary's obedience reached its zenith. Despite the immense pain and sorrow she experienced, she stood in obedient solidarity with Jesus, actively participating in His redemptive sacrifice. Her obedience in this moment of deep suffering exemplifies her unyielding trust in God's plan.
Through the intercession of the Most Obedient Virgin Mary, believers can seek the grace to cultivate a spirit of obedience in their own lives. They can draw lessons from Mary's example of submission and surrender, trusting in God's wisdom and guidance.
"For those who aspire to divine sonship it seems there is no other route than obedience," Saint Symeon wrote. No created being shone more brilliant obedience through trustful surrender to the Divine Will than she - the Virgin Mary Most Obedient.
